Rich and Malty. Notes of coffee and roasted Barley come together and create a complex taste with a full body and silky smooth finish.

Tasted from a 16 oz can bought at the brewery.
L - Deeply dark brown color. Appears clear around edges when held up to light. Dark tan head on initial pour, but it quickly fades to a few wisps of tiny bubbles on the surface, which is typical for the style.
S - Dark malt and some low coffee in the nose, but that's about it. Aromas very restrained and simple in comparison to the best examples of this style.
T - Coffee and burnt grains dominate the flavors, both at somewhat harsh levels. Like the aroma, there is not the complex palate of sensations that I hope for in this style. There is a bread yeast note near the finish that seems out of place, perhaps evidence of fermentation problems. Dry finish.
F - Medium body. Low carbonation is almost imperceptible. Moderate hops bitterness. Alcohol is well-hidden which is not necessarily what I want in this style.
O - An OK beer, but disappointing as an Imperial Stout, which is normally a style I greatly enjoy. It lacks the layers of malt and alcohol complexity and intensity that are typical and appealing.
