A moderate bitterness that balances the sweetness of the malt profile. A rounded smooth mouthfeel.

Poured from a can into a weizen glass.
Look: Brown with some dark red hues. Cloudy.very thick, beige head. Fair head retention and lacing.
Smell: Caramel. Reminds me of pastries. I think that i can detect some faint hop notes in the way back, which gives it a bit of a green vibe and makes me think of being out in the woods, perhaps in an evergreen forest. Fairly sweet. This is a wonderful nose.
Taste: A bit bready. Caramel heavy. A touch of honey sweetness, but also slightly bitter. Apple? Finishes sweet. Cracker on the finish.
Feel: Medium body and fairly strong carbonation.
Overall: This is a very "fallsy" beer and would be great outside in the cool air or at the Renaissance Festival.

Included in the Costco Biergarten Collection mixed 24-pack picked up in Missoula, MT; first experience with this brewery, I believe
500ml can poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint
P amber/chestnut w/ a small slightly off-white cap; fairly quick recession
N soft-med nose of sweet toasted malt, light nuttiness, and some floral and estery notes; more perfumy floral character as it opens; smells good, just not the aroma I expected
T follows, but more diminished than the nose; toasted malt, subtle nuttiness, fruity esters and floral notes
Mf light-med bodied and a bit watery; soft-med carb; kind of lackluster, tbh
O has a nice nose and some unique elements, however just alright overall; definitely many others that are better in the style

Handsome red-copper color with adequate foam in the nonic. Interesting aroma of roast grain, wood, and a whiff of smoke. Plenty of spritz on the tongue but dissipating carbonation. This stuff is really rather sweet. It tastes more like fruity tea than beer. Very odd flavors and then a scratchy, bitter dishwater aftertaste. Probably my least favorite of all the excellent brews in the Costco Biergarten box. From the 500 ml can.

Name: Irlbacher Premium Schlobherrn Weisse Dunkel Export
Brewery: Schlossbrauerei Irlbacher GmbH & Co
Location: Irlbacher, Germany
Style: Dunkel Weisse
ABV: 5.4%
Canned: 04 January 2025
Date: 10Nov 2025
The first Dunkel Weisse in the box, I am still looking for a Rauchbier. I am using a tulip (the other glass is being cleaned), and the serving temperature is 46 degrees. The pour created a foamy, light tan, half-fingered head with poor retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color is brown with an amber hue; clarity is clear; charts at SRM.
Nosing the beer, I detect notes of lightly toasted malts, caramel, floral bouquet, phenol, banana, bread, pepper, and light malty sweetness.
The flavors are floral, banana, phenols, minerals, bread, caramel, light herbal, toasted malts, malty sweetness, cloves, and a light resin note.
The mouthfeel is slightly sticky, finishing chalky. The body is medium-light and medium-plus-carbonation.
Final Thought: This dunkelwiezen's body is thin, for my liking. The beer does taste like banana bread, but it is missing something.

Hazy brown pour with highlights, quick head down to a sheen. Nose is banana and roasted malt.
Taste hits with ripe banana, light breadiness, some over ripe banana, medium kilned malt, some roasted grain. Medium mouthfeel. Finish sticks to the script.

Dark black tea appearance with a lasting off white head which all added up to an attractive glass of beer
Aroma is pleasant but subdued. Malty, mild roasted malt, toffee and the best part is some dark, chewy dark bread.
Taste is very similar to aroma, nice malty bread finish.
Overall a very nice beer

Pours a dark brown color although still fairly transparent. Foam is modest, tan in color. Smell is biscuits and grass, but also a little metallic. Flavor starts caramel malt, ends dry hops. This is a reasonable, consistent dunkel, but overall weaker than the better examples of the style.
