Picked this up at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge recently as I wanted to see if this was as good as the first beer that I had from Chimney. The Sonk was a decent beer but this turned out to be pretty generic in the end, as I never warmed up to it no matter how much it warmed up in my glass.
The pour to this was typical - golden, hazy, and topped off with a moderate head that settled quickly enough. Not much lacing was left behind aside from deep ring near the top and a few scattered sections the rest of the way down. Grapefruit, citrus zing, and a bit of exotic tropical fruit were in the nose as the taste squarely followed suit. Turbid, hoppy, and somewhat slick, this was nicely balanced and lightly carbonated but in the end, didn't have any memorable qualities to it.
There wasn't much of any booze to this either as it would have been easy to crack another can open after finishing this - if there wasn't anything else on hand. No date was written on the bottom of the can but this felt fresh and there wasn't any visible sediment in it as well. Enough wheat was left in the aftertaste, as it complemented the hops nicely, but this was a pretty run-of-the-mill beer that was fine to relax with in between more notable offerings.
