This was the first beer that I had from Chimney, as I found it recently at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge. I have no idea what Sonk is, as it sounds like an inside reference, but this was a perfectly serviceable IPA that didn't feel terribly strong and let me with a decent first impression!
The pour to this was golden, hazy, and topped off with a thick head full of big, webbed bubbles. Very little lacing was left behind as there were a few hints of thick and rocky lacing in the middle of my pint glass. Lots of turbid citrus and tropical fruit pith in the nose, including orange, mango, star, and jack fruit as that was also true for the dank and green taste. Slick, earthy, and moderately turbid, the Amarillo and El Dorado were more prominent than the Citra as the latter was felt in the slickness more than on the palate. Balanced and lightly carbonated, this was easy to kick back with a subtle burn and feel of rind in the back that left me wanting more.
This warmed me up a bit and it felt fresh as there wasn't any visible sediment in the liquid. Dated 8/30 with "GO FLYERS" (boo!) written below that, this got more fleshy at it warmed up. This was about as close to weed as I've found from a local brew and if you like your beers green and smooth, you have your match here. Fitting for a cold Christmas night, I can now say that I've been Sonked...
