Moderate dense beige head. Excellent, near-blanketing lace. The liquid is dark brown but faint light shines through the edge of the glass.
Dry, semisweet chocolate aroma. Light coffee in the background.
The body is thin like the true Irish Stouts. The carbonation is notable as it doesn't provide the smoothness of the nitrogen charged stouts. The taste is closer to the black patent malt than chocolate or coffee. It's dry and lightly burnt bitter.

About to visit Dublin, so good time to checkout a beer from there. Can best by 2023/05/16
Pours a foamy 1/2 finger brownish head with fair retention, fair lacing, dark mahogany to molasses brown color that appears black and opaque
Nose dark chocolate, cocoa, cookie dough and baking spices, a bit of roast and coffee, a bit fruity, with mild spicy hop, biscuity
Taste starts with more rich dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee and roast, a bit of char but far from burnt or acrid, some bitterness from the roast and mild spicy hop, a bit fruity as well, more baking spices and a bit of cookie dough, baker's chocolate late, drier finish with med spicy hop bitterness and roasted malt bitterness
Mouth is med bod, a touch creamy, med carb
Overall solid Irish Dry Stout

Well, St. Patty’s Day is in a few minutes, and I figure the best way to prepare for a day of throwing down Guiness pints is to review a new Irish Stout, right? This one being from a relatively new brewery, Dublin City. Let’s get into it
Pours a semitransparent dark brown with 2 fingers of light tan head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The roast is very evident in the nose here, though there’s a subtle sweetness for balance. I’m picking up on aromas of roasted barley, acidic coffee, milk chocolate, earthy hops, and nutty malt
It is even more roast-forward in taste, which sadly takes away from it a bit. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black malt, acidic coffee, burnt toast, light earthy hops, and smoke. The swallow brings notes of acidic coffee, earthy hops, toffee, nutty malt, and toast
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slightly creamy beer. Finishes dry and roasty
The best that can be said about this is that it’s rather easy to drink. However, it’s just not that exciting or well executed. Still, not bad

440ml can from Eurospar, Fermanagh (£2.50):
Opaque black with a 1.5cm, frothy tan head that leaves a little lacing on the glass too before settling as a quarter cm surface lacing. It's quite malty on the nose with lots of roasted notes, a nutty base & touches of coffee. The roasted flavours carry over to the taste, there's some faint coffee again with a little smoke & earthy malts to finish. The body is medium to full, smooth with a slight tang.
