look: three finger tan coloured head with great retention, beer is a lovely dark brown colour, near totally opaque, very pretty
smell: smells good, not overly aromatic mind you, but there’s some nice rich malt flavours there, roasted, toasty flavours, lot of espresso, lot of milk and dark chocolate, enticing
taste: yeah that’s a decent beer that, nice malt flavour, big bold unami malt, toasty, smokey, tobacco, espresso, milk chocolate, some treacle, nicely sweet, nutty, oaky, nice levels of bitterness on the finish, smokey flavours linger, nice
feel: light bodied, light to medium carbonation, a bit thin, lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue, quite drinkable though
overall: a solid brown ale from an irish brewery i had never heard of (and another one i’ve added to here, been pure churning out the new breweries recently hehehe) until i was given this in the beerclub’s 2020 advent calendar, good stuff.
