My latest beer haul from Great Bottles in Suffolk VA resulted in a lot of Oatmeal Stouts. PFD is the latest one I have tried, also my first beer from the Coastal Fermentory brewery. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, this beer is a dense brown color with no light coming through. It has a fairly small tan frothy head with somewhat better than average retention. There were some partial bands of lacing on the glass. The aroma and taste were what you expect in an Oatmeal Stout: malt, chocolate and coffee. The chocolate was not overdone and the beer was not too sweet. Tasty and enjoyable!! Mouthfeel was rich and not as smooth as some Oatmeal Stouts. There was a little alcohol warming here which was not unwelcome. A more robust mid .abv range stout than most. Quite enjoyable!!!
