Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. The label calls this a "DDH West Coast India Pale Ale", and was brewed in collaboration with Mirage Beer Company.
Appearance: pale straw hue with a light haze and a finger of frothy white foam. Certainly the lightest IPA I've seen in some time!
Smell: hops are very herbal and earthy with a little bit of mint, citrus, and tropical fruit underneath. Malt is a bit on the sweet side; overall I like it.
Taste: an interesting combination of flavors: citrus rind, jackfruit, maybe a little guava, and quite a bit of bitterness. It's an interesting take on a West Coast IPA -- definitely a spiritual heir to the style, but without all of that piney character classic to the style. Kind of a unique beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess for the style.
Overall: I like this beer more for its uniqueness and how interesting it is, than for its immediate impression on my palate. But this feels like a beer that I could really acquire a taste for.
