Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 12/6/23. The can just calls this a “hazy, hoppy ale” that is “irresponsibly hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Nectaron”.
Appearance: super murky light-yellow hue, with a finger of frothy ivory foam atop. A haze ale indeed!
Smell: very hoppy, as it says on the tin, with notes of citrus, pineapple, and perhaps just a little dankness. There’s a little bit of an herbal quality, too. It’s good, but it doesn’t quite knock me over as the label suggested it might.
Taste: the sweetness of the malt brings out the juiciness in the hops, creating in the flavor the experience I was looking for in the aroma — big, sweet juice. Starts as more of an orange julius type flavor, then segues into its danker notes. And while I like all of that a lot, boy howdy, is this beer boozy. Of course, it’s 10%, so what should I expect — but man, I think the big boozy heat takes something away for me.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a rich, smooth, creamy texture. Excellent — this is where this beer’s bigness really shines.
Overall: I like this beer, but I think it’s strength is its weakness (whoa, I just blew my mind a little right there). Good, but it’s … a lot.
