I absolutely love this. Nothing extremely special as I said with the original Throb but just a great tasting simple IPA. I enjoy the double aspect a lot as well.

With my favorite beer vendor (Saveon) temporarily not able to sell beer, I have had to go to other vendors. It is amazing how much really old brew is sitting out there. I found this at what should be the best store in Mentor, World Wines (if not for the many other stale IPA's sitting on their shelves). This one had no hint about freshness except the store tag, which was fairly recent.
This opens thick, dirty golden and frothy. The aroma is deeply hoppy but also a bit forebodingly boozy. First sip and it's double ipa, just like they used to taste (true to the text on the label). Big over hopped malty bomb. It would be bitter for all the hops, but the malts are in huge supply as well. Just as it is supposed to be.
I can't give this brew a positive recommendation due to the lack of freshness information on the label. I lucked out, and got an excellent double IPA, fresh. This style can sit a little while, but fresher is still better. As I got it, it was very solid all around and I will enjoy them as quickly as possible.

Canned on 2/7/22. 12oz can poured into a tulip.
Pours a glowing golden with a subtle haze; fluffy off-white head that fades leaving nice retention and lacing.
The aromas are malt forward along with some caramel. Some citrus.
The flavors follow the nose but are bolder. More caramel. More citrus, especially orange. Some lemon in the mix. Lots of pine. It's slightly sticky. Really nice bitterness. There's a sweetness to this one, but the hops outweigh the sweetness. Solid malt backbone. Finishes juicy and dry at the same time, but it's definitely on the drier side. Mild warmth in the finish.
Mouthfeel is full-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy and smooth.
This is a pretty solid DIPA. It's a classic and old school example of the style, but I mean that in a good way. It's not flashy, but it's simply enjoyable and fun to drink. Not bad at all. I like it.

Wow! What a nose on this one!! Don't think I was familiar with this brewer before this little dandy .... Tastes great. Hidden ABV, big frothy head ... Big thumbs up!
