cask pour at the Jolly Judge. Dark black pour, still, small cap of beige head. Aroma and taste sit squarely on a solid roasty malt bill, notes of chocolate, light bitterness and drying out towards the finsih.

Poured from 440ml can into my Bierwerk Züri becher. The best-by stamp is marred, but I picked this up right at the brewery just a week or so ago.
Appearance: good brown hue with a bit of haze to the body and a thick head of pillowy tan foam atop.
Smell: not too sweet, with nice roasty notes along with some chocolate and some yeastiness. There's a hint of vegetal smell here to me, but that's pretty common in the style.
Taste: moderately sweet with caramel and a bit of roast; there's less chocolate than in the aroma, but more hints of coffee. The bitterness seems more from the roast than from the hops. It's not bad, but it's maybe a bit sweet for a "dry stout".
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a decent enough dry stout, but not one I'd go out of my way for.

Copenhagen 13/10 2022. 40 cl from tap at Mikkeller & Friends, Stefansgade, Kbh. N.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small light beige head. Settles as thin patch of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a dark roasted odor which is not particularly sweet. Earthy notes of leather and tobacco. Light whiff of toffee.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is Intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.
A fine dry and not too sweet specimen.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark garnet red + dark mahogany colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy pillowy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering approximately 75% of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + slightly charred + toasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. Moderate aromas of dark chocolate + earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + slightly charred + toasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of dark chocolate and hints of coffee. Finally there is a light flavor of earthy hops. Moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol but a touch thin in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a pleasant complexity to the malt flavors and aromas as well as enough roasty bitterness.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, tan head. Roasty aroma and flavour, dry, coffee notes, straight forward, easy drinking, quite nice. Enjoyable.

L- They couldn't have got any more beer in the can! I popped the ring-pull and the beer is *level* with the opening! Black to the eye, but with a halogen torch behind it it is a very deep garnet red, poured clear with 3mm deep tan head of super-fine bubbles.
S- A pleasant roasty-toasty charred note to it.
T- Follows the smell^, roasty-toasty+charred, plus a waft of smoke rises into the finish which for a black beer is strikingly dry with a hoppy lick across the palate right at the end.
F- It's as dry as a trad Pale Ale, for sure...
O- .... yet the pungent Taste distracts me from that a bit bringing some balance. It's something different, a notably pungent taste plus notable dry hopping; an unusual combination. IBut it reminds me of the expression 'All gong/No dinner', ie all drama but little substance, all mouth/no trousers. I'll happily finish it but a black beer of this pungency would usually come with a balancing feel - which usually means ABV%! As is, the big flavour + resulting relatively thin feel dominate.
