Mostly clear golden body with tons of white lacing coming from the full finger head. Smell has the usual helles trappings: bready yeast, crisp malts, lemon, cracker and grassy hops. Taste has those grassy hops right away with bready yeast, crisp malt, hints of pale grain, cracker, and southern biscuit. Decently crisp and clean, leans slightly pale in the breadiness. The wife liked it. Great porch beer in early summer

Nice straw color with good active carbonation. Nice light grainy/bready malt character. Good balance with light hoppiness. Light bodied, crisp, clean and refreshing; crushable.

my first beer from these guys, courtesy of my homie back east and an awesome round of beer mail! a nice take on the style, very light an drinkable, even as helles goes, crystal clear yellow, short headed but pure white and lasting, and tons of rising carbonation in my pils glass the whole time it takes me to drink this, nice looking brew. it smells and tastes like a somewhat lighter handed use of the european malt, still a biscuity flavorful pils type of grain profile, but delicate here, almost slightly watered down, and with the ultra light body this has, it makes it a real warm weather ripper, lighter than a lot of its peers, which can have its advantages. there is an almost sweetness to the nose too, less of that in the flavor, sort of floral on the hops there, where i get more classic noble properties when i taste it, decent hop bitterness helps it finish fast too. a light hay and straw thing makes it a little rustic to me even though its nicely refined, and the lager yeast is classic but again a little muted and minimal. the beer is cohesive, effervescent, and refreshing, and i like its understated nature overall. would be keen to try some more from old thunder after thoroughly enjoying this one...
