Our Dunkel: inspired by the classic dark lagers of Bavaria, and brewed with decoction mashing. It is comprised of German Pilsner malted barley and hops from the Hallertau. Expect delicate notes of toasted bread crusts, chocolate, and ripe hop flowers.

This one pours a moderately dark brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells a little bit like dark chocolate, but mostly like high quality crusty bread and some floral notes.
This has less caramel and sweetness than I expect from a dunkel, but its wonderfully bready malt character makes up for it. There’s some chocolate and toasted nuttiness, and nice little herbal and floral bitterness subtly creeping in on the back end.
This is medium bodied, crisp, and clean, and very drinkable.
I haven’t had had a ton from Old Thunder, but it seems like they do this sort of thing real well.
