Baskwadder Tripel, our flagship beer, has matured for several months in Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky casks. This limited edition is the first bottling of the barrel. Unblended, resulting in a stronger whisky note. Bottled unfiltered and refermented in the bottle.

Poured from 330cL brown Belgian bottle into a wine glass. Best by 1/1/26, which I didn't see when I read the bottle, but is not the end of the world at all for a 10% tripel.
Appearance: dark orange hue with a moderate haze and a thick head of creamy, pillowy light-tan foam atop. Looks really good.
Smell: sweet and malty with just a little bit of oakiness and a bit of orchardy cider-like character. There's also a little butterscotch in there (not like popcorn buttery diacetyl, but like ... butterscotch pudding). It's ... interesting. Not bad, but not my favorite.
Taste: the cidery note is more pronounced in the flavor than in the aroma; more than I care for. It's sticky and malty but not cloyingly sweet, which is nice, but boy does it finish boozy. Rarely do I think a tripel benefits from whiskey barrel aging.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: not my favorite tripel, but not terrible. I would like to try the non-barrel-aged version and see what it's like by comparison.
