Limited Release. Aged for several months in bourbon barrels from Finger Lakes Distilling, this near-black Belgian-style Ale has aromas of vanilla and roast coffee. The rich flavor includes notes of dark fruit with a long dry finish.

Had on tap and grabbed a C&C bottle before leaving.
Exceptionally good barrel job. The base Belgian-style Stouts that Brewery Ardennes are very good. But this barrel aged brew just took up to the really good brews. The beer as hoped thinned a bit. The near black color now displays a lighter dark with beautiful hints of ruby and garnet to light. Soft plumy light tan head remains consistent with their earlier stouts. Nose still subdued, but not absent. Flavor of wood and vanilla grab the candy and dark fruit. An entirely different/superior flavor experience to their other stouts. I drank the bottle side by side with Obscure (which I like)…just to reveal more about each beer. Outstanding.
Body is thinner (from the barreling I assume) in a very good way. It really lets the flavors swirl/evolve within the mouth.
Unsure availability (limited release) but would definitely want a few more of this excellent barreled Belgian stout.
(And FWIW…probably some big kudos should go to Finger Lakes Distilling too!)
