On draught it pours a clear medium brown color with a decent head that fades.
Lacing is intermittent between sips.
Flavor is of caramelized malt with vanilla in the background. A slight bourbon note on the tongue, but not as boozy as one would expect from a 8.5% ABV double, very smooth and drinkable.
This one could easily sneak up on you if you weren’t careful.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip
A- A clear brownish ruby red with a two finger tan head.
S- Toffee, caramel, vanilla, some oak, whiskey, a little earthy.
T- Toffee, earthy, oak, whiskey, some vanilla, touch of noble hops.
M- Smooth, medium body.
O- A good doppelbock, but could be balanced better. Nose is on the sweet side and the taste is on the bitter/earthier side, if they could have meet in the middle of the nose and taste it would be really special.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma and flavor feature harmonious oak, vanilla, butterscotch, malt, a kiss of noble hops, and warming alcohol. Not overly boozy, smooth mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Overall a great BA doppelbock.
