Pours a dark brown, almost black color. The off white head is long lasting and leaves a fine display of lace. The aroma is strong and boozy, with notes of dark malts and clean fusel alcohol. The taste is full on dark fruit, booze, and cocoa. Darker malts than most english barleywines, this packs a punch. Did I mention this was strong? Full bodied, smooth, medium carbonation. Overall, a good strong American barleywine moreso than English, and one that doesn't take kindly. A beast of a beer. Not for amateurs.
