The appearance was murky dark brown color with a finger’s worth of slowly dieing foamy head. Sly streamy lace. The aroma had some soft sweet nuts with a slight roast to it. Nice caramel/toffee malt base. The flavor leaned sweet initially and then allowed a decent roastiness in it. Aftertaste was sweet nuts. Finish was smooth sweet nuts. The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a nice sessionability about it. Good carboation and the ABV felt good. Overall, pretty good brown ale that I could have again.

Belltower Brown poured dark amber/brown with a small off white head. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Has a nice roasted malt taste to it, along with some nuttyness. Hop profile is minimal. A nice malty beer and a good one to session too, giving it solid drinkability. Another good beer from CBW.

Nice brown color with a decent white head. Smells slightly nutty with some sweetness and a hop background. Standard brown with slight hop gets better when its not too cold. Middle road on the body and very good to style beer with out all the over burtonizing of the water. A growler between two people was a nice help while painting.

On-tap at the brewery.

Brownish-red in color with minimal off-white head. Sparse lacing. Aromas comprised of a hint of roasted-toasted malt, toffee-nut bars, a dash of sweetness. Same for the flavor. Unassuming but not bad. Little aftertaste. Nothing to think about when drinking this one.

Served as part of their beer sampler. This one poured a semi-cloudy and dark amber brown orange color. The aroma gives dark and caramelized malts, along with some rubber ‘eraser’ like notes. The taste is rich, nutty and goes down with a creamy smoothness. Finishes bittersweet and nutty. A very nice brown ale.

On straight tap: Hazy dark brown. Light body and flavor, but a good nuttiness. There’s a slight citrus-rind bitterness in the finish. Cask conditioned: MUCH better. The chocolate malt comes out and it improves the body 100 fold. This beer was meant to be served warm.

These folks have an almost religious fervor for good beer!

Nice rich brown color- sugary cling to the glass. Certainly has malts in the nose. Picked up some hops in the cask that I did not find on tap. Good full flavor and excellent mouthfeel in the room temperature cask brew. This version goes down quite easy- less CO2 .

The British guy down the bar from me was a big fan, too.

Appearance: Deep ruby brown cream colored thin and short lived head leaves lacing pretty evenly with each sip. Aroma: Toasted grains bring mild caramel, chocolate tones some harsh note in the finish but it's decent mildly hopped brown ale. Taste: Flavor doesn't strike me as anything special some mild hops floral notes and chocolate grainy sweetness in the mix not bad it's decent. Mouthfeel: Light for a brown ale carbonation seemed a bit spritzy for me. Drinkability: Not worth coming back to but better than other mainstream brown ales, like I have said before stick with the Chuch's specialty brews you won't be disappointed.

Served as a sample at CBW. The color was a dark amber, with some white head. The smell was a roasty malt. The taste was a strong roasted malt, with a bit of mild hoppiness. Mouthfeel was slightly thin. Drinkability-wise , could absolutely have a few.

The other solid regular offering at the Church. It's just a shame that other low-ABV brown ales can't be this good (and why not, Newcastle?). A good offering from a fantastic brewpub, and one I'd have again.

This is a solid brown, but the aroma is average. It has a nice rich caramel color and a thin white head that leaves a thin lace on the glass. It has a malt sweetness with a hint of caramel. Hops were subdued, like a good brown ale should be. Low ABV of 4.2 with a mild IBU of 20 make this one an easy drinker. A very solid offering from CBW.
