On tap served in – this time I was expecting it – an 8 oz flute . 8.4% ABV
Aroma of malt
Head removed by bartender – remaining is light brown, creamy, diminishing to 3 mm ring and layer
Lacing good – complete rings of small bubbles
Body dark brown with reddish overtones, clear.
Flavor – another surprise – malty and not sweet, somewhat bitter with a hoppy ending. Not what I was expecting in a wee heavy.
Palate medium to full, creamy, lively carbonation.
Appearance 4, Aroma 3.75, Flavor 3.75, Palate 4.25, Overall 4
As with many of Church brews, the appearance and palate tend to be better than the aroma or taste.
