Served in a snifter at Church Brew Works. The color was a nice dark amber, with a slight head. The smell was a nice noble hop aroma mixed with the caramel-ish malt. The taste was definitely dominated by the 30+ IBUs worth of Tettnang hops in the beer, but somehow the CaraAroma malt shines through and adds just that slight bit of caramelish sweetness. Mouthfeel adds just a slight touch of the hop resiny feeling. As for drinkability, an enjoyable one to have until the tongue goes numb from the dry hops.
Cheers to Aran Madden for such a wonderful recipe. I wasn't sure what to call this since it wasn't specifically designed to a category, but double pils seems the most fitting. Definitely enjoyable, and while this isn't a session beer, I'd certainly like to have this one again!
