On-Tap at the source. Dark orange/amber with a small off-white head of foam that dies down pretty quickly to just a smidge of head. Aromas are pretty German malt heavy with a nice German hop aroma as well as some earthy roasted flavors from the cocoa. Taste is more earthy with the cocoa notes being a bit stronger, but this still is a maibock, no doubt with some nice matly, hoppy balance. Mouthfeel is thin, considering the abv, and the drinkability is OK. Nice, but odd, and i'm not really sure i'm diggin' it...

Desribed by the waiter as a traditional maibock with cocoa added. He also states that at 7%abv, it's obviously served in a small goblet. Uh... ok. Must be a Pennsylvania thing, I guess.
The beer is a clear, orangey-amber with a small, frothy head. Not even 1cm. Aroma is strangely earthy. Even soily. It's a fairly dry beer. Obviously malty, but nut sweet or syrupy, even a little. The cocoa tastes pure and unsweetened. It gives a dry powdery effect to an already dry beer. Alcohol is present in the finish, which given the somewhat strong tastes, seems to me could be better hidden. Not bad, not great.
