Draft only. On tap at the brewery, served in shaker
Aroma – roasted malt, chocolate
Head - head chopped by bartender, left a light brown three mm ring and layer
Lacing fair – broken narrow rings of tiny bubbles, stalactites and stalagmites
Body – dark brown, opaque
Flavor – light tastes of roasted malt and chocolate; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation
One thing Church does well is produce decent dark beers – their revolving porters and stouts are usually quite tasty and Pious Monk Dunkel is excellent.
Appearance 3.75, Aroma 4, Flavor 3.75, Palate 3.5, Overall 3.75
