Growler brought back from a recent trip to Pittsburgh
A: Thick, dark brown, opaque nearly black with a tan head receding to a collar.
S: spicy peppery aroma with notes of a spruce and cactus.
T: More peppery spice in the taste with a slightly sweet sprucey pine flavors. Slight milk chocolate as well
M: Creamy smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation levels. That maybe because I didn't have a chance to open my growler right away, but the low carbonation enhanced the beer which still poured a good sized head.
D: Lots of flavor, easy to drink and low alcohol percentage makes this a nice session type beer.

Church Brew Works Pepper Porter, 5.2 % ABV , 30 IBU.
Poured ontap at the brewery. Dark brownish black, opaque with no light shining through. Bubbly off white head forms and leaves some lace on the glass. Aroma is a little peppery, malty as well. In the flavor, mainly porter with some sweet roasted notes. A faint peppery flavor is there but it is not at all spicy, more flavorful and less spicy than expected. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and a nice even carbonation. Easy to drink and a nice offering overall, but I would have liked even more pepper to make it stand out.
