This beer is a dark mahogany with a small head. Smell is mild. Toasted malt with a little sweetness. Taste is rich and malty. Caramel, toffee, and toasted malt. A little roasted malt bitterness but not much. Not too sweet. Really nicely balanced. Medium to full bodied. Fantastically drinkable. Maybe the most sessionable Scottish ale I've had. Overall this is a great tasting beer and is a really good American version of this style.
