4oz pour at A Beer Club for Barleywine Bonanza. 2024 Rye Whiskey Aged.
Pours a clear brown with garnet highlights. Foam fades to whispy ring, nice legs.
Smells of molasses, toffee, and a hint of oak. Toasty bread and mild dark fruit.
Taste follows the aroma with a hint of rye and a boozy sting on the finish.
Mouthfeel is full on the palate, light carbonation, and a sweet boozy finish. Bitterness balances malt and alcohol but is not abrasive at all.
Good beer, a little boozy, but not cloying like too many barrel aged English Barleywines.
