a slightly dense berliner weisse but really tasty, done with both strawberry and woodruff, not as syrups at the bar like is traditional, but actually in the brew, which i think is a neat approach to this, but i think a somewhat messy base beer is saved by the flavor, which is authentic and robust and really makes this delicious, although it would be so much better for summer if it were cleaner and brighter on its own, quite a lot of wheat heft to this, dulling up the appearance and adding weight to the mouthfeel. pinkish and cloudy, fizzy but short headed, epic aroma of fresh super ripe strawberries in peak season with the herbal and slightly bitter and tea-like woodruff underneath, a hint of vanilla to it, earthy wheat is awesome here, and the sourness is very restrained, lemony and clean, mouthwatering but the fruit adds sweetness too, balanced and layered and way more interesting than most of these, the woodruff is a super cool add! the flavor is a bit strawberry dominated, runs over the woodruff and the tartness a bit, still wheaty and plenty beery, not saying its over fruited but some of the earlier balance is lost. still summery tasting and flavorful, really good, and the carbonation is fine. overall something quite distinctive, neat approach to the style instead of the flavored syrups just put the strawberry and the woodruff right in. dynamic to say the least, deliciously fun.
