Copenhagen 1/2 2023. 44 cl can from Kihoskh, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh. V. Monkey Brew's usual can design with their Simian logo on a dark purple fading to orange background.
Pours clear dark maroon with a big off-white head. Settles as thin patch of foam floating in the middle of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a strong, slightly sugary odor mingling with a light toast, and burnt caramel. Toffee, caramel and a bit of brown sugar. Toasted bread and blueberry jam.
Low carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is rather intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sugary sweet with a boozy undertone. Lingering. Finish is sugary with a light burning streak.
Sweet and almost sugary Doppelbock - as it should be.
