Lights Out Stout is an imperial stout that we brewed in collaboration with our friends at Christmas Decor. We brewed this joyful stout with chocolate malt, roasted barley, dark brown sugar, and Belgian candi sugar. We taste notes of Christmas cookies, sticky toffee and Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas from RSBC and Christmas Decor!

Im sampling cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Gift from my brother while visiting over the holidays.
No date stamp on can nor label.
The beer pours a dark black coffee color and no light passes through my glass. A creamy tan head foams up almost 3 cm and does a little cascading action in my glass. The foam fades slowly to a sturdy surface covering and leaves scattered lattice around my glass.
Aroma is roasted malt and dark chocolate with just a bit of dark fruit. No real hop character and the booze is well hidden also.
First sip reveals a medium body with light and smooth texture. Less robust physically than I expected. Carbonation is very fine and tingly.
Flavor is roasted malt, almost to the point of char or burn coffee. Astringent bitterness from the malt. Not really any sweetness here nor any hops showing through. Beer isnt boozy at all, but is a bit of a slow drink due to the burnt notes.
I was hoping for a little brown sugar note and was surprised at how roasted or burnt the beer tastes. Its a fine imperial stout , especially if you want olde school non-adjunct ones. But could be a little more robust physically. Id drink another but wouldnt hunt one down.
