Picked up a 16 oz crowler after the Free the Whales festival held at Hopfly Brewing in Charlotte on 7-1-23. Consumed for review 4-2-24.
Got a bit of a yeast unleashing when i popped the top but not too bad. Beer poured black with a nice tan head with the initial pour.
Nose is very nice with primarily a peanut butter essence with a touch of mildly roasted malts and faint trace of bourbon.
Taste is very nice as the large mild roasted malt base marries up with the peanut butter adjunct nicely. Barrel is not overtly perceptible other than a slight trace of warmth with each sip and assists with balancing the malt base and PB adjunct leading to a pleasant finish.
Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied and is smooth but has an odd higher amount of carbonation for the style.
Overall this is a tasty brew. Reminds me of PB BA Narwhal we had at a Sierra Nevada party in December 2022.
