Pours a deep hazy gold with a thick white foam that quickly dissipates. Aromas of lemon, honey, pepper, and cloves... sweet and inviting. Flavor begins with some sweet honey, then I detect some some sour apples and lychees, followed by a very spicy finish of cloves. Quite acidic with a noticeable alcohol presence as it warms. Body is very light and crisp with very high carbonation. Almost has the mouthfeel of Champagne. A fairly interesting beer, but more of a change-up beer... not something I'd drink very often.

Appearance:

Pours a crystal clear orange brown, that is until I made the mistake of swirling the beer in the bottle and pouring in the sediment, which muddies the waters, and leaves giant clumps of yeast floating around.

Aroma:

Candied sugar, yeast maybe some muted banana, though nothing spectacular.

Taste/Mouthfeel:

Smooth and chewy with mild banana undertones pierced with notes of alcohol. Finish is dry and highlighted by the coriander mentioned on the label, imparting some Saison characteristics. Much better in the mouth than the appearance or aroma would lead you to believe. Easy to drink, and good enough to make you want to drink more.

A smooth medium mouthfeel Belgium. Initial sweetness than yeasty finish. Some hop bitterness. For me, it was a standard Belgian with supper, not very complex. a lighter version of the rest of their line, though satisfying. Dark amber colour. Corriander, cinammon, some pepper.

A classic example of a good Belgian ale. Poured out to a hazy deep golden orange color with a small, albeit strong white foamy head.Medium high level of carbonation. Consistant lace was present in the glass. Aromas of spice, malts, fruits and mild vinegar. Taste was rich, but easy on the palate; flavors of spices and herbs, rich malts, grass and earth were powerful and enjoyable. Mouthfeel was good, mildly rich with a zesty refreshing character. Good drinkability; for the price I would definitly buy this again to have on hand once in a while. Recommended.

Golden with a tight, fizzy head. Poured into a small goblet, so the beer was divided into two pours. First pour was much lighter, with some bright malt and yeast flavors, a little sharp with alcohol. More yeast and sediment decanted on second pour, and color was a bit darker, with some tan sediment in the bottom of the glass. The yeast addition brought some more fruit flavors to the beer. Overall, this was pretty good for the style, but nothing overly impressive.

Wow, this beer is strange. Pours a rusty light orange, cloudy golden color with a white head that dissipates quickly leaving a white lace. Nose is malty, with a touch of citrus and honey, fairly sweet. One reviewer mentioned the smell of "Fruit-Loops". I couldn't agree more. Taste is also rather malty, but there is also a tiny bit of fruit. Ends very sweet. Aftertaste is really strange and reminds me of hard liquor, like a whisky and coke or something. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth. All in all this beer is not very complex. I was expecting something spectacular, considering I really enjoyed Bush's "Scaldis". I wouldn't waste my money on this again.

A rusty orange color with a fair head that reduces quickly, but maintains a respectable layer and an attractive lace. The aroma is toffee/caramel and fruity with a hint of alcohol. The taste is overall sweet (malt) with a very slight finish of hops. The mouth feel is creamy with some body, but overwhelmed by the sweetness. Pleasant experience, but somewhat one-dimensional in character; not as complex as many Belgian beers.

I paid $3.99 for this non-discript, plain bottle. Poured a nice hazy, golden color. At first taste, it appeared to sweet for my liking. But as I drank on, the sweetness mellowed and I was able to enjoy its true characteristics: citris, cloves, and other spices. I found this to be a good Belgium, not at the price I paid. I would probably buy a domestic Belgium first.

11.2 oz brown glass bottle, capped. No freshness date, though I think this was a fresh bottle.

This "special ale" poured a cloudy, dull golden color, with decent white foam that settled eventually to a perpetual thin white coat on the surface. The smell was candy-sugar sweet with a light fruity aroma, and the smell of caramel malt and yeast. (Overall, the smell was reminiscent of the cereal "Fruit Loops".) The taste was dominated by a too-strong, sugary sweetness, but followed by some nondescript fruitiness, some grain flavors, a bit of yeast, and a trace of alcohol. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy and sweet. Medium body with modest carbonation. The drinkability was OK, but overall this ale was a bit too sweet, though the sweetness did seem to moderate after prolonged breathing at room temperature during which time brown sediment settled out of the ale.

Pours a hazy, pale orange with a sparse, peach hued head and tiny flecks of lace. Aroma is interesting - lots of musty, unmucked barn, oranges and corriander. I give high marks in aroma not so much because I liked it, but because it was so strong and different. More musty wheat and corriander flavors , some alcohol notes and a faint sugary sweetness. It tastes like a strong White bier. Strong and metalic bite on the tongue as the intriuging but faint flavors fade to a satisfying, lingering dryness. One of a kind in flavor and aroma. Worth trying.

Pours with a fine cream colored head, over very cloudy/sedimented amber liquid. Heavy fruity and malty nose with some bready aromas too. Taste is malty, bready, fruity and alcoholic...a good sipping brew this is. Finishes up sweet and a bit malty. A well done brew.

The pour a quite muddy deep orange color with a modest head and decent sheets of lace to seal off the glass. The aroma of “Sweet Butter Scotch”, malt and even some yeast tones sneak through this interesting nose. It begins a tad sweet, the top middling in feel and the finish mildly acidic, with an above average hop presence, long lasting dry aftertaste, complex and a nice change of pace.

Not a belgian dark strong. At all. Maybe a belgian pale. Who knows? Who cares?

Pours a hazed-up golden orange with tons of asteroid yeast chunks. Looks like an 8th grade science fair diorama of Outer Space between Mars and Jupiter. Either that or a gravel truck had an unfortunate accident with Brasserie Dubuisson while this particular batch was being bottle.
A tiny but persistent head is present throughout.

Fruit nose full of candi malts and apricot sweetness. Simple but attractive.

Taste. Ever had Froot Loops cereal? I used to eat that stuff all the time. Here it is in liquid form. Honestly. Where the hell is Toucan Sam? Artifical fruits and light grain backing.
To be a little more articulate...there are hints of spice. But nothing very distinguishable. Maybe coriander and curacao. Yeast adds...
f*ck it...I am sticking by the Froot Loops description.
Lifeless body. Thin, and without any spritz or and heft. You're better off drinking the milk out of your bowl.
All told, this is far from an awful beer. Actually, it is interesting to a small degree. But I can buy an entire box of the cereal for what the 11.2oz bottle cost.
And there is no prize at the bottom of this one.

Cloudy orangey/gold. Visible yeast chunks. Tight off white foam layer. Aroma is fruity and white wine-like with evident alcohol. Flavors blend warming alcohol and a spicy coriander, cardomum, white pepper. The spicy character is subdued though. The alcohol is the dominant player here. The brew's flavor is enhanced as the temperature elevates but a lack of complexity remains. I much prefer Scaldis. Interesting brew...worth a try.
