I tried this on tap, served chilled in a pilsner glass at the brewpub in Lancaster.
The color is a beautiful golden with great clarity with small head with fine bead, no lace retention is ok. The smell is mild with slight malt odor and mild hop scent with subtle sweetness in the aroma. The feel is good with very clean and mild body with light sweetness and moderately high carbonation level with semi-dry finish and mild bitternesss level.
The taste is has a good balance of malt with mild yeast and gentle peppery hop flavor with slight grain taste in the middle with low sweetness with a mostly dry taste in the finish. This is a pretty good lager but could use a skosh more hop flavor but in general a well brewed beer without any off flavors-pretty drinkable

On tap @ Iron Hill Lancaster on 1/29/11. Served in a 10 oz Pils glass.
Pours a crystal clear pale straw, with a ½ finger of bright-white frothy head. Nice retention on this, with a continuous release that keeps a thin creaminess on top and throws up a foamy cascade of lacing onto the sides of the glass. The aroma is more floral than grassy feeling, with some notes of citric fruit and spice. A combo of sweet tangy grains and corn fill out the back of the nose.
The taste has a Noble hop bite up front of citrus, spice, and an earthy feeling bitterness. These are balanced by the light bready sweetness of the malts and I'm also definitely getting some corn flavor out across the back of the palate as well. An earthy dryness finishes this out. The mouthfeel is lighter to medium bodied, with a pleasant firm sharpness to it that expands out into the mouth.
This was a decent little lighter Lager here, with a crisp Noble hop presence and a good balance that kept most of the corn flavor in the background. Solid stuff overall that ended up being quite drinkable.

IH Lancaster recently added the Cabbage Hill Pilsner to its lager lineup. This interesting item is a pre-Prohibition style lager named after an older, ethnic neighborhood in Lancaster city. Many German immigrants settled in Lancaster between the late 1840s and the 1880s. These Germans congregated in the present Cabbage Hill area; it is reputed that their numerous cabbage gardens gave the locale its traditional designation. These thirsty residents supported the rise of the renowned Lancaster brewing industry during this period. The Cabbage is a decidedly American product using 6 row barley with a modest amount of corn, finished off with noble hops. This beer looked very nice in the glass with a bright gold color and frothy head. The head went flat petty quick which was likely a glassware issue. There wasn't a lot of aroma to this one but it picked up as the beer warmed. The mouthfeel is clean and crisp and a bit spritzy. There's a nice malt backbone and the 35 IBUs come through nicely on this lighter style beer. At 5%, this makes for a really good session. Great job !
