Honey like appearance with a thick thin head.
Aroma with notes of moth balls, orange peel, faint spices and honey.
Flavor with notes of honey, tons of bubblegum, cinnamon, cloves, orange marmalade and Belgian yeast. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Medium to full body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 9% is very well hidden.
Fruity and phenolic Tripel with lots of bubblegum notes.

On tap at Philly Iron Hill location. 12oz pour, served in something that looked more like a pokal glass.

Appearance: Clear golden color, very thin white head, no lacing.

Smell: Fruity esters, and a bit of clove, but not a lot of aroma.

Taste: Fruity esters, good sweet malt, noble hop bitterness at the finish. Definitely comes across as a simple Tripel.

Mouthfeel: Good thickness, very light carbonation, a bit sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: Hit the style correctly, but a bit on the sweet side and not that remarkable. One was enough, but a 16oz pour would have been welcome. ABV well hidden.

Pours a clear dark gold with a very small head. Smell is mild fruit- bananas- Belgian yeast notes. Taste is malty. Maybe a little toastier than your usual tripel. Again some of the usual Belgian yeast notes with some fruit and spice but I think the toasted malt is dominant here. Maybe a touch of booze. Nicely carbonated and full bodied. Overall a fine tripel if a little unbalanced.

-clear golden can pour with very little carbonation. Aroma is sugary, ester-y banana and apple. Belgian yeast and sweet fruit (banana, pear, peach) are prominent flavors. The alcohol is detectable but subtle. The finish is more slick than dry.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant "Bedotter"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 2/28/17 11:11:17 BATCH 1" and sampled on 4/28/17

Notes: Interesting label. It somehow reminds me of Budweiser. And it actually looks a little like Budweiser in the glass with it's golden body and white head that fades readily. The aroma expresses sweetish, sugary golden malt and phenols that are spicy, with a little bit of banana and clove, and just a touch of plastic. The flavor is a bit wider with some wheat and straw to the malt and lots of fruit (red apple, sweetish green apple, soft pear, plum, green banana, apricot, lemon) as well as soft yeast, mineral, a hint of wet-paper mustiness, and a flicker of white pepper passing. It's impressive in its variation, and yet the honeyish sweetness of it kind of holds it back in a bubble rather than letting it out. There's not a lot of bitterness, nor hop flavor, although there is some herbal character to it; and the alcohol presence does lend it something. With that said, it does finish sweetish, but it also dries quickly. The fruit lingers shortly amidst the longer standing honey-herbal mix. Somehow in the end it comes off as a little too soft and smooth at first with lots of sugar and fruit and not enough edge, but if you let it warm a little bit and look for it it's all there. Hmmm... maybe even just a little more carbonation would give it enough of a bite or edge to liven it and thus balance it better? The carb is a little soft, but the body remains at least medium-full if not bigger. Still, a very accessible and enjoyable easy to drink Tripel.

Hazed light orange with a white cap.

Banana, Belgian yeast and light pepper in the aroma.

Fruity tasting, with apricot and pear, less banana and pepper than the nose, but still a touch of each. Mildly medicinal.

Slightly syrupy, little carbonation in the mouthfeel.

Surprisingly good.

Beer served in tulip a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a half inch white head. Aroma was of candi sugar, light apricot and banana esters and some touches of clove and spice with a nice semi sweet homemade bread aroma underneath. Some booze on the nose too. Balanced sweet grains and fruit esters with floral and spicy hop notes and more spice from the yeast. Complex in its own right but a easy going beer for its strength which could get one sauced quickly. Light alcohol warmth and a medium body with crisp little bubbles for carbonation. Found this beer to be one of the best I have ever had over the years at this brewpub! Give it a go.
