Purchased at Giant Food in Souderton, PA. $14.49/4pk (16oz cans)

Pours a deep, golden yellow color. Semi-translucent with little to no head on the initial pour.

Very piney, reiseny aroma.

A delicious IPA. A mixture of dank, piney and malty hoppiness with burnt caramel and pineapple. The ABV is noticeable but isn’t overpowering. A dry bitterness after each sip.

Low carbonation and a medium consistency.

Overall, an excellent brew. Iron Hill has themselves a very good entry into the DIPA category. A beer I’d definitely seek out in the future. Well done…Cheers!

The fit of the contents of a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug are just about perfect. The white head is appropriately occupying the top inch, or a little less, of the vessel. There's copious carbonation, so the head endures at its original size. The color of the brew is a bright light copper-amber, far more translucent than opaque. The aroma is delightful, with a sweet malt base and some sharp hops somewhat reminiscent of pine, but not resinous. Those characteristics follow through with the taste. The sweetness of the malt stands up to the hops and high ABV. Other than an additional sweetness, there's not much other malty aspect to experience by taste. The hopping is strong enough that it more than counterbalances the malt. Yes, it is somewhat piney and semi-dry at the finish. However, there aren't any other layers to be had. Still, when the malt and hops interact this nicely, there need be nothing more. There's almost no glass lacing, which is odd because the mouthfeel is sufficiently rich and smooth. The 9.4 ABV is noticed, but not to the level it becomes a detriment. This is a nice way to get a quick buzz with a decent taste.

-double ipa 9.4%.

A: Dark orange pour, one inch bubbly textured oatmeal toned head is only moderately holding. Slightly hazy, with a spacious carbonation rise at a good pace. Speckled and splashy lace design pattern.

S: Juicy pine and wet citrus resins with background of tropical - grapefruit. Dank and flowery goodness, moderately strong with nice wet grassy after-thoughts.

T: Flavor of juicy pine resins and citrus are thick and sticky. Dank grapefruit and citrus with tart tropical semi-dry hopping. Wet and grassy hop mixes with semi-dry oranges and toasted caramel grains provides a good old school bite. A nice citrusy bite, sturdy backbone of old school caramel malts provides a good viscosity with dank citrus and pine reigning supreme. A healthy fade of flowery DDH.

M: Thick and slick mouthful, full of sticky resins and dry caramel specialty grains. Gentle alcohol warming.

O: Overall bringing some old school west coast love with tons of sticky pine/citrus hops with specialty grains in a world possessed with NEIPA. Flowery bite of DDH is traditional and a great trip down memory lane. Sticky hop resin love, warming alcohol of 9.4% provides the perfect balance, with a outstanding drinkability factor. Easily gets an old school outstanding recommendation.

16 ounce can poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

L---Crystal clear, Amber color. Big fluffy, off-white head with very good retention and excellent lacing.

S---Hoppy. Plenty of pine and citrus.

T---Follows the nose. It tastes hoppy as hell. There's pine & citrus as the main flavors. A good malt backbone.

F---Medium+ body. Ok carbonation. Just a hint of alcohol burn from the high ABV.

O---A damn fine DIPA. I only have the one, but that's because my store only had one. I'll get it again if/when I see it.

Kryptonite is a shining example of what a boiler full of hops can do to a beer! This double American IPA is exceptional. The pour form the growler is a deep amber color with a white head showing small bubbles. The head stays throughout the pint and holds the carbonation well. The first thing you smell as you raise the glass to your nose is the generous helping of citrusy hops this beer holds. There is no alcohol odor and only a slight hint of sweetness. The taste dos not disappoint! A hop bomb greets an eager pallet with a grapefruit note that fades to a flowery taste with a hint of malty sweetness on the lips. The mouthfeel is not heavy but has good body. The only reason this beer isn't more drinkable is the ABV, but who would hold that as a bad thing! Smooth and enjoyable, glass after glass, Kryptonite is one of my favorite Iron Hill North Wales offerings! Cheers!

Appears a cloudy amber with a nice frothy white head that retains well. Scattered lacing is left all around the glass.
Smell is of intense hops. Tons of pine with citrusy orange blasts coming through and some oaky woodiness to it as well.
Taste is also of the intense hoppiness with lots of sugary malt balancing out this insanely hopped up brew. There is something in there that is a bit homebrew-ish. Must be a type of hop in there that I usually don't get.
Mouthfeel is very sweet and bitter with with a bit of a bittersweet citrus linger along the tongue. I was still burping up these hops 30 minutes after I was finished. My only complaint was the cost. Five bucks for a measly 12 oz glass. What the hell is that about?
