I was upset that I missed the initial release several months back. So I was very excited to see this on the board today.
a: This was a clear, dark brown color. It was served to me with a short, light tan colored head.
s: This is Permanent Midnight aged in cabernet barrels with brett. The wine barrel takes charge, this smells strongly of grapes with an edge of something funky and a little oak. Underneath all that is a little of the original beer. Some dark fruits and some earthy spiciness.
t: I enjoyed this very much, but I wish a little more of the original beer had come through. The strong, oaky wine notes are very nice and the brett adds a mild but discernible sour bite. There was something malty trying to get out, but it didn't quite get there.
m: Medium bodied with light, fizzy carbonation.
d: This was a minor let down. I was so excited to try this that I built it up to be something that probably wasn't very realistic. Once I got past my preconceived notions and let myself enjoy this on its own merit, I really came to like this. Dad's favorite of the day. Nice first funk from Paul.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
