Pours ½ finger of beige head. Color is a burnt copper orange.
Aroma: Apricot, peaches, floral hops and some bananas. Yeast, coriander, and spices show.
Taste: Bitter sweet hops. Grassy with lots of Belgian flavors and spice notes. Bananas and cloves stick out the most.
Taste: Bitter and spiced. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends grassy.
Overall, it was decent but nothing I wasn't overly impressed with. Somewhat drinkable.

Growler. Pours a slightly hazed orange amber color with a minimal off white head. Fruity type aroma with nice notes of dried apricot and peach. Semi sweet start transitions to a nice hop bitternes. Medium mouthfeel. Really drinkable. Fruity and citrus rind dominate this one but overall a nice drinking beer.

Thanks to sholland119 & Vickster for our first Iron Hill experience. Does any state have more good breweries/brewpubs than Pennsylvania? Toted this along to a rare (& hopefully first in a series) of BA tastings.
Opens with the fizzy 'pop' one hopes for after a growler has traveled long distances. Pours a nice, partly cloudy orange. Smell doesn't hint much at the soon-to-be-experienced taste, gentle waving hops & spring flowers.
Chuck Norris' Beard is one of the better Belgian IPAs I've had. There wasn't a consensus on the dominant taste, apricot vs. peaches, but it was in that spectrum someplace, along with warming citrus hops that imparted a fairly secular level of bitterness. A smooth, almost fruity IPA that we had no trouble finishing off fairly quickly - lower the ABV a bit & this could be a nice beer by the fire for the evening.
An excellent brew. Perhaps the most impressive aspect was that it came a couple beers after a fresh Pliny growler. I half expected it to get swamped by that legendary scrapper, but no, it was different enough, & good enough, that it elicited plenty of positive reactions. Thanks again my PA friends!

Poured via growler on 7/24/09. Thanks to sholland119 and vickster for sharing this growler.
A - Poured a murky, opaque deep orange, cider-colored body with one-finger foamy off-white head that diminished to a very thin ring of retention and deposited some spotty lacing.
S - Orange rind and spicy yeast blend with light peppery notes and a healthy dose of alcohol to create a hoppy Belgian-esque aroma.
T - Spicy initial flavor with a hefty hop presence suggesting pepper and citrus fruit, especially orange and grapefruit. Some earthy notes also emerged in the backend.
M - Medium body with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Slight alcohol warmth with a touch of spiciness and fair amount of bitterness that lingers on the palate for a while.
D - Belgian IPAs are all the rage at the moment, and I enjoyed this one quite a bit for its spicy character and prevalent hop presence. Gotta love the name, too!

Thanks to sholland119 and vickster for bringing a growler of this for sharing.
A-Bright, clear orange-copper with a thick fluffy white head that reduces to a thin cap and leaves copious lace.
S-Caramel malt sweetness and spicy, bitter, grapefruit rind with a nice floral backing.
T-Whoa! Spice and grapefruit rind with a good kick of lemony citrus. Strong caramel malt backbone offers good support.
M-Medium bodied, sharp and crisp with a dry finish.
D-Really nice...a nice hop bomb that Chuck would be proud of. Maybe just like Chuck Norris's tears this beer cures cancer....which would be awesome since Chuck has never cried!
IH-West Chester should be proud of this one and add to to a regular rotational schedule!

A-A great looking beer. Pours a beautiful clear orange with a fluffy white head and nice stickiness.
S-Lots of malty sweetness up front backed by a fairly strong floral hop presence.
T-Described by the brewer as, "Like a roundhouse kick to your tongue", there is plenty of hoppy goodness but a very strong malt backbone behind it. Sweet malt, followed by floral hops and a nice Belgian yeastiness.
M-Medium bodied and a bit dry.
D-I think this is my favorite IH beer ever. Just picked up my second growler of it, to go with the 8 or 10 glasses I have had. I hope this one becomes a regular in the rotation.
