Pours a clear dark golden yellow color with slight orange hues when held to a light source and a .5 finger white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring that leaves minimal spots of lacing.
Estery fruity aroma with crisp light fruits like apple and pear with some spicy clove, pepper and cinnamon and some bready yeast. Also a bit of ripe banana presence as well as some alcohol.
Medium bodied with some nice spiciness up front with some crisp light golden fruit and bready yeast. Hints of clove, pepper, apple, pear, ripe banana and alcohol. The alcohol warmth is present but subtle enough to not overpower the other flavor. It actually balances out the spicy and sweet characters very well. There is also a nice touch of malt in the body that provides nice balance and makes this beer dangerously drinkable a 9+%.

On tap @ the brewpub on 9/27/09. Served in a 12 oz goblet.
Pours a brilliant clear gold, with a finger of foamy brite-white head. Retains with some thick bunching around the edges and thin wisps in the center, leaving some rich lace back. Good look here. The aroma starts with a big base of sweet bready malts. Fruity esters of banana and green apples and spicy clove notes give this a sharp zip in the nostrils. Floral accents, yeast, and warmth add a certain fullness to this in the nose.
The honeyed bready sweetness of the malts hits the palate first, quickly followed by a fruity tail end, and then giving way to a yeasty and spicy finish which really dries the back end of this out BIG TIME! The mouthfeel is medium bodied (maybe even a bit fuller) with a certain amount of sharpness to the carbonation, yet this still remains relatively easy moving in the mouth. Nicely hidden 9% ABV on this as well. I'm getting some warmth towards the back of the feel, but that's about it. I'm glad that I stuck with just one glass of this, as I could definitely seeing this catching up pretty darn quickly with oneself.
A solid and tasty little creeper of a Tripel here, from this great new Iron Hill location in South Jersey. A worthy beer to carry a tribute for one of the greatest defensive plays that I've ever seen as a Phils fan.

Served in a chalice.
A: Poured a bright medium buttery gold with a 1 finger frothy whipped capping that was bright white. The lacing was impressive sticking well to the sides of the glass with a near full sheet coating while a faint whisper of visible effervesce was seen. My only minor complaint visibility wise would be the fact that the beer was filtered to a Kristall clarity which was a brilliantly sparkling gold (nice none the less), but I prefer a little junk in my glass per style.
S: The aroma was both spicy and fruity with cloves coming to the forefront along with some ripe cold bananas. A light hop spiciness was detected along with some pears and breadiness providing a soft yeasty touch that was clean.
T: The flavor was fruity with pears, bananas, and cloves being the easiest to detect. A warm honey alcohol sweetness and toasted buttered bread also comes through providing a gentle alcohol warming with hints of fusels on the finish. Ripe plums with a dry spiciness concludes which just might be one of their best drinks by far. Finishes with a warm dried honey and spicy dry alcohol fade that was gentle and forgiving for noobs and the curious who never tried the style before. Overall was clean, spicy with a warm dry spiciness well suited per style.
M: light with a slick consistency with a touch of edginess despite the calm carbonation visibility. The mouthful ends with a clean warm and spicy dry offering on the tongue of alcohol and warm fruit.
D: Good drinkability and very enjoyable, you hardly detect the 9.0%abv which is very well hidden making this drink go down amazing smooth and easy for its nature. Definitly worth a couple of glasses and repeat purchase in the future.

According to the Maple Shade Iron Hill beer menu, Unassisted Triple had an OG of 1.088, Color 4, 35 IBUs, and an ABV of 9.4%. It was on tap around 9/13/2009. They served it to me in a 12 oz. Chalise.
This Triple poured a semi clear pale gold color. It was a golden amber or a golden orange, it was a straight up pale gold color. On top of this beer was a good looking 1/2 an inch pearl white head of foam. The head of foam had pretty good retention that left behind a string of white rings and a spot or two of lace around the glass.
At first, the aroma was just a faint whiff of malted wheat, citrus hops, citrus fruits, and a drop of pine. When it was swirled around, the aroma was a different story. Swirling it around will awaken the fresh scent of citrus fruits. Nothing new will emerge, but I really like that fresh scent of citrus fruits.
This Triple had a full flavored taste of malted wheat, fresh citrus fruits, bitter citrus hops, a dash of pine, and a gentle touch of yeast to send it off. It was hard to pick out the flavor the beer liked the most because as soon as you had it, in comes another big taste.
This was a medium to full bodied beer, with a decent level of carbonation, and an aftertaste of malted wheat, citrus hops, and citrus fruits. The one thing I couldn't help but notice was the fact how well this beer masked it's high ABV%. You'll be able to feel a little bit of it, but you won't feel all of it.
It was a nice brewpub only take on a Belgian Triple. If it's on tap when you go there, you might as well order a glass because more than likely the other beers before and after this will be some kind of session beer. A growler? That might be a little too much unless you have somebody to share it with.
