Pours reddish copper in color with good carbonation and decent lacing. Smells strongly of toasty malt, as well as the American hop aroma that one would expect. A fine tasting beer with plenty of citrusy, piney hops as well as some more floral notes, all supported by a sturdy malt background, perhaps too sturdy. It is a little bit malt heavy for my taste. Finish is not as dry as I would like, and a bit sticky, but not too bad. The malt seems to have some nice toasty notes that set it apart from a lot of other run of the mill American IPAs. Medium body with some alcoholic warmth, it is not the most drinkable IPA I have ever had, but it is also not too heavy. All in all a solid brew, especially coming from a chain micropub.
