Had this on tap at Iron Hill Brewery in North Wales. This is their Cannibal that has been aged in Pinot Noir barrels.
A: Came to the table with a about a half inch of white head floating on top of a dark, golden light amber color. Some red notes, guessing it picked up a bit from the Pinot barrels.
S: Good wood notes on top of some underlying Belgian characteristics. Had a very nice fruity nose as well. Some grape juice and a little citrus aroma. The barrel certainly added a very nice touch to this beer. Well balanced aromas.
T: Wow! This is a very interesting beer. Has a very distinct Pinot Noir flavor. The most "wine" tasting beer I've come across. Dark, sweet fruits. A touch of wood, some smokiness. Sweetness and citrus come through from the original beer.
M: The only thing that I didn't enjoy too much about this beer was the astringency that the wine barrel added to it. Had the same drying effects of a red wine. Body was medium, good amount of staying power on the palate.
D: Alcohol is well hidden in this one, went down very nicely with a nice burger. Excellent food beer, I can see wine lovers enjoying this beer as well.
