Had on cask, which means Iron Hill deserves a tip of the cap.
The Charlie Brown is a dance move too, right? I greeted this one ready to shuffle.
But... shucks. Another creative... creation (is that repetition?) from Iron Hill that falls short of the mark.
It is a brown ale in appearance, and it pours with a solid batch of bubbles from the hand drawn cask. That's probably the beer's best point. Which is sorta funny, because I never thought Charlie Brown was too good looking.
Smell is just unnoticeable. A bit of malts, maybe. Taste is mostly water, and it feels almost like a red. Given the description which says it has "aggressive American hop notes balanced with a chocolate malt finish" I can only conclude that the hops were too aggressive, killed the malts, then killed themselves.
The feel in the palate is good for a cask ale, and the 5.5% is almost a perfect point for me, but that doesn't save this one from falling on its back during the football game's kickoff.
