On tap at the West Chester, PA location. From the description: "Abbey style beer modled after the famous Abt 8 from St. Sixtus. Rich, complex with flavors of rum, and raisin. Brewed by our very own St. Bethardus." Poured into a tulip-chalice...
A - Poured a murkey brown color with a nice 1 finger tan head. Nice retention and some ever so slight lacing.
S - Smell is of lots of dark fruits - figs, dates, raisins. Some lighter Belgian yeast comes out as well. Bready and spicey as well. Nice nose.
T - Sugary fruits like raisins, dates, and figs come out first followed by Belgian spices. Nice subtle rum-like undertone. There is some brediness from the yeast as well.
M - Medium bodied but a very light feel to it. Carbonation was fairly moderate. Nice feel on the palate.
O - While I haven't had Westvleteren 8 to compare this to, this is a solid belgian style beer. The flavors were there and it seemed to be pretty authentic.
