On tap @ the newly opened Chestnut Hill location. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a DEEP amber, with a ½ finger of light tan colored head. This retains with a thin creamy layer that skims the surface, leaving back some solid looking swathes of foamy lace. The aroma has a nice roasted feel to it, which is layered on top of sticky smelling notes of caramel and some lighter cocoa. Earthy green hops round out the back of the nose. This is just very robust smelling, with a dark and sticky nature that really stands out.

The taste is roast up front that then gives way to a flavorful green citric bitterness, which has much more of a presence here. Caramel and cocoa come in off the sides with a sweet balancing nature but it’s mostly those hops here that are defining this flavor profile. The finish is dry and roasty with some lingering greenness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp and lively feeling in the mouth with, a smooth sharpness that keeps this moving. This isn’t coming off as overly carbonated but it definitely gives the flavors some pop.

This was VERY flavorful and probably the most robust Brown that I’ve had in a while. I can’t think of a more delicious and easy drinking inaugural quaff at this new location. Cheers!
