On tap @ Iron Hill Lancaster. American IPA with rye. Pours a clear gold with a rich bright-white head. Lots of sudsy lace that clings to the sides of the glass. The aroma smells floral and green with a nice spicy dough presence from the rye. The taste has a bright and fresh feeling hop bitterness that spreads zesty citrus and pine out into the mouth. The hops are nicely complimented by a layer of rye underneath that adds an extra spicy and dry punch to the profile. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a firm crispness up front and then more of a strong creaminess that flows along the back. Just a touch of alcohol is present but this is overall pretty smooth for a big IPA. This was a very good take on a Rye IPA with the rye and hops really working together nicely here. More so than what I usually experience anyway. Well done.
