Cask @ Iron Hill Lancaster during the Hop Attack event but brewed at the Chestnut Hill location. American IPA utilizing the new varietal Hop # 483. Pours a hazed golden copper with a sudsy white head. Soapy lace drenches the sides of the glass. The aroma smells fresh and floral with herbal notes of tea and mint. This has a nice fresh power to it from the hops with just some light malt sweetness across the back of the nose. The taste has a fresh citric bite to it with some underlying tropical and tea-like flavors. Light pale malt character adds an extra dry sweetness to the proceedings. Resins and bitterness linger in a dry finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a soft creaminess that glides across the palate and prickles the tongue just a bit. Alcohol is handled well. This was tasty and different with that tea character in particular really making this an interesting IPA. I’d like to see this used again.
