A solid imperial stout that may have a bit of brewer's licorice, and is definitely a bit more "carbonated" than most high ABV stouts. On first taste, it made me better appreciate some of the stouts from Founder's and Bell's Brewery that I frequently have consumed, but this grew on me quickly. If I recall, each of these pints cost me about $6.25 each -- which I would consider high -- but they're not watery, they do have both kick and good flavor, and they're unique enough to justify the occasional acquisition. Furthermore, they're not a dessert stout in any sense of the word -- and for that, I am thrilled. A welcome alternative to Sierra Nevada's "Narwhal", and in some ways even preferable to some of Founders' offerings...
