From a completely unmarked crowler filled 6/15/22
While continuing with my RI brewery journey, me and a friend hit up the Middletown/Newport breweries all in a day. Unfortunately, I forgot to review the beer I had while drinking here, so I decided to grab a crowler of this one to review later. Let's see how they do with the big boy
Pours completely pitch black with 2 fingers of dark tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
This has a surprising fruitiness to the nose, very light and vibrant while also retaining some classic Stout-y notes. I'm picking up on aromas of fruity coffee, strawberry ice cream, dark chocolate, raisin, vanilla bean, sweet bourbon, light caramel, and charred oak
While the fruitiness persists in taste, the booze really leads the way here. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting perfumey alcohol, fruity coffee, vanilla bean, red grape, cocoa powder, caramel, and light oak. The swallow brings notes of roasty coffee, earthy bourbon, toasted oak, vanilla bean, light orange rind, and caramel
A full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a silky and rich beer. Finishes a tad dry for the style which is much appreciated, but perhaps expected given the booziness
I enjoyed this one more than I had anticipated. Although that strange strawberry ice cream note smacks of a flaw in the brewing process, I actually really like what it added. I'd revisit this one

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
