Russian Imperial Stout brewed with aromatic dark crystal and chocolate malts, along with roasted barley. Hopped with Galaxy, which provides it with a subtle fruity character.

Unsurprisingly, this is black in the glass (SRM 38+). A light chestnut head is dense and creamy, reaching 3/4 of an inch before slowly fading to a veil and thick ring. A fine coating of lace rides above a viscous film as it returns to level. Eventually, arches of fine lace are left on a Pretentious Beer Glass Company aromatic snifter.
The initial whiff carries subtle dark chocolate and booze (Rum). Moments later, the subtlety is jettisoned. There are still delicate notes with no pretense of sublety from the chocolate. The booze is proudly displayed, along with lots of berries. There is a nice, mellow, deep roasted malt. Warmth reveals figs and a light sensation of campfire smoke.
Roasted bitterness is strong and countered by equal parts sweetness. Berries and chocolate switch places from the aroma, while the booze is very clear without ever claiming the limelight. Warmth amplifies the berries and sweetness, while all but erasing the astringency. The finish starts strong, quickly progressing from sweet boozy malt to subtle berries.
While clearly the body is full, it still feels light, which is an interesting effect. The texture is silky smooth. Residual sugar is light, along with a soft carbonation. Alcohol is as expected.
This is a superb Stout, probably better suited for a cold, cloudless night than the sunny afternoon when I enjoyed and reviewed it. Be certain to share it with someone when you try it.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like heavily roasted malt, slightly tangy dark fruit, smoke, and dark chocolate.
This is super solid old-school take on a Russian Imperial Stout. I'd maybe want a touch more ABV and body, but the flavor is just about spot on, with twinges of dark fruit and general fruitiness, heavy roast, smokey bitterness, and dark chocolate.
This is medium bodied, maybe slightly thin, but not overly so. It's pretty drinkable with no real booze to it.
I still haven't been disappointed in one of this brewery's opening day beers. They have a lot of potential to be one of the best local breweries.
