Shipped to me cold by another BA and refrigerated until served. Poured from a 12-oz can stamped 25065 (which I probably equates to March 6th 2025) to a bulbous, tulip-like glass.
Pours out clear, medium-gold. A large, multi-size white head sits above. Lacing is medium and much of it lasts.
Smell is bright pine with a floral/citrus background.
The taste is pine forward also, citrus can be sensed. There is no sweetness involved in this baby. Nice WC feel to it. But there is an extremely subtle medicinal flavor in the finish.
The mouthfeel is appropriate for the style as is the carbonation. Alcohol is barely noticeable with some warmth.
A fairly good example of the style.

Can purchased at Strangebird Beer in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a dark orange-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells unfortunately too malt, with sweet caramel malt, and a bit of piney astringent hop character.

This is just too boring and malty. It doesn't have that resinous punch I want from the style, as the hop character is not strong enough to stand up to the malt backbone. I don't even typically mind malty IPAs that much if the malt character is interesting. Unfortunately, it's just generically sweet, with no interesting breadiness or anything.

This is light bodied, and pretty drinkable at least. It goes down easily.

This isn't necessarily bad, it's just too malty and not very interesting. This brewery has much better beers out there.
