the Barrel aged was more interesting by a whisker. It hits the style but not so interesting. The pils ingredients I thought would be interesting, maybe when fresh.

Bottle: Poured a murky dirty golden color ale with a large foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of candi sugar and sweet malt notes with some yeasty ester. Taste is a mix of spicy malt notes with some candi sugar notes and yeasty ester with some strong residual sugar notes. Body is full for style with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Not bad but not totally clean beer. Additional attenuation would have been required in this beer.

this is darn near as good as i have seen an american brewery do this style, thanks to my buddy for sending out the can, awesome art on this one, these guys seem really cool, hope to check the place out next time i am back out that way. this has to be can conditioned, its so vibrant and lively on the pour, and the can feels pretty tight. huge white head on it, belgian indeed, rising and airy and permanent at about an inch once it settles in, a deep almost rust toned orange to the beer, perhaps a shade maltier looking than many examples of the style, but not way out there, effervescence is evident. the nose is less sweet than expected, but has a little candied orange and confectioners sugar to it, green pear and apple notes from the yeast, some earthy spiciness, and a definite citrus layer, dynamic and obviously belgian, but quite intriguing too. the flavor is great, mostly due to the ferment, they obviously have a pretty good handle on this yeast, its impressively dry, floral, and summery, and the alcohol is hardly there at all, even at temperature. white pepper, clove, and coriander seed notes, along with white peach and maybe even peach candy, really good, and the uplifting carbonation makes it. super cool beer, compelling in overall quality, and frankly almost good enough to have actually come from belgium. very impressed with these guys so far!
