This one pours a weirdly cloudy pale orange color, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This really doesn’t taste like any festbier I’ve ever had, except for Erdinger’s festweisse, maybe. It just tastes like more a malty and too sweet hefeweizen to me. I really don’t think bottle conditioning this one was the right choice, as banana, clove, and spice are just the dominant flavors, with only generic sweetness – none of the rich breadiness I want from this.
This is creamy, and too sweet, and just sits weird on the palate.
I usually like a lot of Strangebird’s beers, but I really don’t think this worked out. The yeast character and bottle condition were a weird choice for the style. I don’t even mind weird choices, style-wise, if the beer still tastes good, but I don’t think it was executed well.
