On tap at Strangebird Brewery in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a just slightly hazy orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like spicy and earthy hops, orange peel, grapefruit, and melon.
This is quite good. I’m not sure exactly what this being barrel fermented actually does for the beer – I don’t really get any oakiness, but this does seem to have some rounded off edges, so to speak, with a nice creamy and smooth hop character. There’s some sweet melon, pithy grapefruit, lemon, and a touch of orange, with a really pleasant earthy bitterness that I always love in wet-hopped beers.
This is light bodied, crisp, clean, and slightly creamy, with a great drinkability.
I have always adored the uniqueness and little twists that Strangebird takes with their beers to make them stand out.
